Three teams with a chance to book early quarter-final ticket

While Györi Audi ETO KC have already secured their Women’s EHF Champions League Quarter-final spot in Group 2, no team can boast the same in Group 1. However, the situation may change on Sunday – if Metz, Rostov and Buducnost all claim victories, they will be sure to proceed to the next stage with three games remaining in the main round. 

GROUP 1
Metz Handball (FRA) vs Kobenhavn Handball (DEN)

  • Metz started the main round with two wins and now top Group 1 with nine points

  • The French side still boast the most effective defence among all main round participants, with 138 goals conceded

  • Kobenhavn are fourth-placed with four points after a draw with Odense in the Danish derby on Monday (24:24) 

  • The Danish team beat Aalborg 32:27 in a domestic league match on Wednesday

Odense HC (DEN) vs Rostov-Don (RUS)

  • After a defeat at Metz, Rostov showed their power again last week by beating Buducnost

  • Odense split the points with Kobenhavn and are fifth-placed with four points

  • Both teams have a perfect record in their domestic leagues: Odense claimed 20 wins in 20 games, Rostov won all 16 of their matches

  • Rostov still cannot rely on their leader Anna Vyakhireva, who has a hand injury 

Buducnost (MNE) vs Brest Bretagne Handball (FRA)

  •  After the defeat at Rostov, Buducnost slipped to the third place in the group

  •  The Montenegrin side have a perfect record in home matches this season

  •  Brest lost the French derby against Metz and are bottom of the group with two points

  •  Brest’s Ana Gros is the competition’s top scorer with 56 goals
