Presov's prescious draw

30 seconds to go, Bregenz have the ball. Coach Mesic takes his time-out. One single goal would do for the Austrians against Presov; the score still 30:30. Not enough for Bregenz to clinch the third spot of the group and they have to win this match. But instead of calling the goalkeeper down for a seventh field player, manager Frühstück overrules his coach and simply says: "We play the conservative way!" A big mistake. Bregenz couldn’t score, the result remained the same and Presov have now an advantage for the third spot of the group.

Started well for Bregenz

Bregenz took a better start in front of 1,800 spectators. They had an early lead (4:3 after six minutes), which was their last lead in the whole game!

The Slovakian team then played better, had the lead over the Austrian champions 9:4 (12th minute) and 19:14 at the break.

Bregenz fought back in the second half, climbed back goal by goal and equalised the first time in the game three minutes from the end at 28:28.

They even had a great chance to seal the game, but they couldn’t score from their last attack with 30 seconds remaining: they shot on goal too early and wasted the possibility to secure the third spot and continue in the Cup Winners’ Cup. The last game will be in Denmark where they have to win against Svendborg - "mission impossible"...
