VELUX EHF Champions League 2011/2012 Registration

Last Friday was the deadline for clubs across Europe to register to participate in the VELUX EHF Champions League 2011/2012.

Only two sides, H.C. Conversano of Italy and HC Mojkovac of Montenegro, did not register.

A number of clubs who have registered have remaining issues relating to their playing venue not being of EHF required standard. The EHF reserves the right to not accept their registration on this basis.

The EHF are currently investigating these clubs and are involved in a dialogue which may include solutions such as alternative playing venues or renovation plans.

The EHF Executive Committee meeting in Malta this week will be used for further evaluation of these clubs surrounding these organisational aspects as well as playing issues.

VELUX EHF Champions League 2011/2012 Wild Card

Five clubs have requested a Wild Card place in the VELUX EHF Champions League 2011/2012 in the following seeding order:

Spain - Cuatro Rayas BM Valladolid
Germany - Rhein-Neckar Löwen
France - Dunkerque HB Grand Littoral
Denmark - Skjern Handball A/S
Poland - KS Vive Targi Kielce

The VELUX EHF Champions League 2011/2012 Wild Card tournament has four places available and the EHF Executive Committee meeting in Malta this week will be used for further evaluation of these clubs in relation to them gaining a Wild Card place.

The decisions regarding the participation of clubs in the men’s and women’s competitions, as well as the awarding of places in the Wild Card Tournament will be made by the EHF Executive Committee on Saturday 18 June 2011.

The issue of the venue for the Wild Card Tournament in the men’s competition will be handled in a separate procedure later on after the local situation of possible organisers have been evaluated.

VELUX EHF Champions League / EHF Women’s Champions League Draws

The draw for the VELUX EHF Champions League and the EHF Women’s Champions League Qualification Groups will take place at the EHF Office in Vienna on Monday, 27 June 2011 at 16.00 hrs.

The draw for the Group Phase of the 2011/12 VELUX EHF Champions League and the Group Matches of the EHF Women’s Champions League will be made from 11.00 hrs on Tuesday morning, 28 June 2011 at the Gartenhotel Altmannsdorf in Vienna.
