Beach handball side BMP Maravillas Benalmádena has been fined for withdrawing from the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup.
 

The EHF Court of Appeal has granted an appeal lodged against a Court of Handball ruling related to a club's withdrawal from the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup last year.

The European Handball Federation had lodged an appeal against the decision of the EHF Court of Handball, dated 15 May 2024, following the withdrawal of BMP Maravillas Benalmádena from the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup 2023.

On Thursday, the EHF Court of Appeal decided that BMP Maravillas Benalmádena shall pay a fine of €10,000€ for withdrawing from the competition.

Half of the fine is imposed on a suspended basis with a probation period of two years.

Furthermore, damages in the amount of 2600€ shall be paid to the Portuguese Handball Federation which acted as the organiser of the competition.

The decision may be contested before the European Handball Court of Arbitration within 21 days.
