Clubs attend workshop ahead of DELO WOMEN’S EHF Champions League return

The countdown to the start of the newly-branded DELO WOMEN’S EHF Champions League continued on Wednesday when representatives from the 16 clubs taking part attended a workshop in Vienna.

It is under a month until the first match of the season with new title sponsor Delo Group throws off when Romanian outfit SCM Ramnicu Valcea take on SG BBM Bietigheim from Germany on Friday 4 October (16:30 hrs CET).

The workshop, held by EHF Marketing GmbH and the EHF, was attended by 16 clubs including 2019 champions Györi Audi ETO KC of Hungary and EHF Champions League debutants DHK Banik Most, the Czech champions.

All of the clubs were given the latest updates and changes that will kick-in for the campaign, including an exciting new project where all team’s post-match press conferences will be streamed live on social media, giving followers an even richer matchday experience.

Clubs also received further information on the impact and involvement of the Delo Group, who in February signed a two-year agreement to become title sponsors of the competition until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Matthias Mayrhofer, Key Account Manager of EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “It was important for the competing clubs to get an understanding of how the Delo Group as the new title sponsor will help elevate the competition to a whole new level.

“We have already seen in the men’s Champions League how much an important role sponsorship can play, so it is fantastic to be able to have two equally important premium competitions.

“Not only was this workshop crucial to get this point across to clubs, but it was also a hugely beneficial exercise to continue a healthy cooperation between EHF Marketing, the EHF and the clubs.”

The first round of fixtures in the DELO WOMEN’S EHF Champions League throws off on 4 October and continues across the weekend of 5-6 October. The pick of the matches takes place on Sunday 6 October when Team Esbjerg, the returning 2016 champions from Denmark, face on one of the favourites for this season’s title, CSM Bucuresti of Romania.
