CANAL+ continues to broadcast VELUX EHF Champions League in Poland

EHF Marketing GmbH, the marketing arm of the European Handball Federation, has extended the partnership with Polish broadcaster CANAL+ for one more season.

CANAL+ will show VELUX EHF Champions League matches until the end of 2019/20 season, including the showcase event VELUX EHF FINAL4 on 30/31 May 2020.

CANAL+ has been home to the EHF’s flagship competition in Poland since 2013/14 season. The interest in handball in Poland has risen considerably over the years, down in no small part to the success of PGE VIVE Kielce and Orlen Wisla Plock in the competition, the highlight of which was Kielce’s spectacular title triumph in 2016.

The action in VELUX EHF Champions League 2019/20 started on 11 September. The first match for any of the Polish teams comes on 14 September when Plock takes on Chekhovskie Medvedi (RUS). Kielce will close the round 1 visiting THW Kiel (GER), a returnee to the elite club competition after winning MEN’S EHF Cup last season.

Commenting on the partnership extension, Miguel Mateo, Head of TV & Media, EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “We are delighted to continue our cooperation with CANAL+ for at least one more season and we will keep working together to bring the best handball to fans in Poland.”

“These are good news for all of us, not only for the Polish market. In the past six seasons of our cooperation, CANAL+ has shown a big commitment to the competition, delivering high-class production and coverage to all our matches and final events.”

Michał Jarocki, Sports Director of the CANAL+ platform, said: “From the new season, CANAL+ will have exclusive rights to broadcast the VELUX EHF Champions League. We feel great satisfaction that for the seventh year in a row we will be able to provide our viewers with the best implementation and quality of transmission of this extremely exciting competition.

“I invite all handball fans to CANAL+ SPORT for Plock’s match on 14 September. In addition, all other matches non broadcast in our channels will be accessible on CANAL+ web.”
