150 days to go - Taste of the EURO coming in autumn

Sunday marked 150 days until the handball action throws off in Sweden, Austria and Norway. The first taste of the EHF EURO 2020 will come in autumn during the national team week from 21 to 27 October. During that period, numerous tournaments and friendly matches will be played across Europe.

Traditionally, the team week in October is reserved for the Golden League featuring EHF EURO hosts Norway, defending champions Spain, EHF EURO 2018 bronze medallists France and tournament hosts Denmark. The Golden League will be played in Aarhus from 24 to 26 October. The semi-finals are scheduled for 24 October when Norway face Spain and Denmark will take on France. The finals will be played on 26 October.

Sweden will host two friendly matches against Iceland. Matches are to be played on 25 October in Kristianstad and on 27 October in Karlskrona.

The national team of Austria will make use of their EHF EURO 2020 host city Graz where they will be playing against Serbia (25 October) and the Netherlands (27 October). In addition, the Austrian national team members playing in the domestic league will be called for a short-term training camp in September, November and December.

Croatia, who are playing their preliminary group matches in Graz, will cross their swords with Germany, EHF EURO 2016 champions. The EHF EURO 2018 Final venue Arena Zagreb in the Croatian capital will host the first match on 23 October. The return match three days later (26 October) will be played in Hannover’s TUI Arena as a part of the “Day of Handball” which the German Handball Federation is organising for the third time.
