The EHF President Michael Wiederer visited Montenegro on 28 February and 1 March on a cooperation visit.
Over the course of two days the EHF President met with officials of the government of Montenegro and the Handball Federation of Montenegro.
The EHF President and EHF Vice President Predrag Boskovic met with Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic and Minister of Sport Nikola Janovic to discuss the positioning of handball in Europe and the EHF EURO 2022 which Montenegro is co-hosting with Slovenia and FYR Macedonia.
In addition, the building of the new arena in the capital Podgorica was discussed, which would be of a size that would make the hosting of a main round at an EHF EURO possible. The new arena would also be available for the matches of the Women’s EHF Champions League team, Buducnost.
During his visit, president Wiederer was also present at the 70th anniversary of two-time Women’s EHF Champions League winners Buducnost where he was presented with the award for the EHF’s cooperation with the club over the years.
