16 teams await Women’s Challenge Cup draw

A place in the quarter-finals will be at stake when the Women’s Challenge Cup 2018/19 resumes with the Last 16 in February 2019.

The draw for the Last 16 will take place at the EHF Office in Vienna on Thursday, and the two pots have now been confirmed.

The 2016 champions and 2018 runners-up, Rocasa Gran Canaria, are seeded in Pot 1. The Spanish side lost last season’s final against MKS Perla Lublin of Poland, which have been playing EHF Champions League Qualification and EHF Cup this season.

Rocasa is one of two Spanish teams in the draw, alongside Rincon Fertilidad Malaga. The Netherlands and Sweden also have two teams participating in the Last 16, and 10 further nations are each represented once.

There will be no country protection in the draw meaning that two teams from the same country can face each other.

The first leg of the Last 16 will be played in the weekend of 2/3 February, followed by the return leg on 9/10 February.
