One-match bans for Brestovac and Döne

The Court of Handball has released two decisions in relation to the direct disqualifications of Danilo Brestovac and Ramazan Döne both excluded from their respective VELUX EHF Champions League matches having taking place last weekend.

The coach of HC Metalurg, Danilo Brestovac, was directly disqualified during the match against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg for having displayed an aggressive verbal and non-verbal attitude towards the EHF delegate after receiving a two-minute suspension. The Court of Handball found such behaviour unsportsmanlike, a respectful attitude towards all participants, including EHF officials, shall be displayed at all times within the frame of a match. Hence, the coach is suspended for one match and will therefore miss the next opposition against Chekhovskie Medvedi.

The player of Besiktas Mogaz, Ramazan Döne, was directly disqualified after he slightly hit an opponent with his knee while the latter was in the air to take a clear shot on goal to conclude a counterattack. The Court of Handball decided to impose a suspension of one match since this act is regarded as reckless, malicious and committed solely to prevent the opponent to have a clear chance to score.

Appeals may be filed within seven days but will not have any suspensive effect.
