NEWS: Spanish women’s team BM Playa Algeciras and the men from Palletways Verallia Azuqueca were the best in this year’s European Beach Handball Tour, with both accumulating more than 2,000 points respectively
Spanish teams top the European Beach Handball Tour 2018 ranking
63 tournaments were played and verified in the European Beach Handball Tour 2018, and with the ranking being finalised*, two Spanish teams occupy the top positions.
In the women’s event, BM Playa Algeciras, bronze medallists at the ebt Finals in May this year, came first with a total 2,030 points which they accumulated across six tournaments they played.
The best men’s team also comes from Spain: Palletways Verallia Azuqueca top the men’s ranking with 2,078 points gained at six tournaments.
In the men’s event, ranks two and three are also occupied by Spanish teams, with PINTURAS ANDALUCIA BMP SEVILLA (1,924) in second and BM PLAYA ALGECIRAS (1,920) in third. The first non-Spanish team is Beach Stars BHC (1,882) in fourth, followed by TSHV Camelot (1,876) in fifth.
OVB Beach Girls® DVSC-TVP (1,874) and the Lady Bugs (1,845) are second and third respectively in the women’s event.
The best teams from the ebt 2018 will compete at next year’s ebt Finals, likely to be held in late May. The ebt Finals are the traditional opening tournament of the beach handball season.
Registration for the ebt Finals in 2019 will start around February to March next year.
*the 64th tournament being displayed are 'Limburg Indoor'. They take place from 28 to 30 December 2018 and already belong to the next ebt season.
