Plan International and EHF Marketing extend charity partnership

Since the beginning of the 2017/18 season, the VELUX EHF Champions League has been supporting Plan International through various actions and has taken over the sponsorship of a Plan sponsored child in Brazil.

Now, the WOMEN’S EHF Champions League is on board as well: With a floor sticker at the WOMEN’S EHF FINAL4 on 12 and 13 May 2018 in Budapest, Plan International and the WOMEN'S EHF Champions League bring attention to Plan’s work and particularly to gender equality for girls and women.

Sports in particular can contribute to the promotion of gender equality, especially in developing countries where girls are underprivileged and discriminated in many areas. They are usually in a weaker social position than boys or men, stronger affected by poverty, have less decisive power over their lives and their basic rights are more limited.

This is why Plan International, in its projects, uses the power of sports and promotes self-confidence of girls and women through handball and football. This is reached with joint trainings and matches and through positive feedback from the spectators who support the girls’ performance. This results in overcoming stereotypes and in strengthening the rights of girls and women.

The presence of Plan International at the WOMEN’S EHF FINAL4 in Budapest shows the commitment of the WOMEN'S EHF Champions League and Plan International for a just world where children – girls and boys – can realise their full potential and where everyone’s rights and dignity are respected.
