Europe talks handball business
The EHF and EHF Marketing GmbH are to host a new sports business event on Friday, 25 May 2018 in Cologne ahead of the start of the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
Taking place one day before the semi-finals of the VELUX EHF Champions League are played in front of almost 20,000 fans in the city’s LANXESS arena, the ‘European Handball Talks’ will bring together experts in sports business, technology and marketing to discuss the latest developments on the handball and sports markets.
This new business event follows up on the highly successful ‘Handball goes Tech’ showcase, which took place last season.
Further developing on last season’s technology theme, which saw the launch of a new partnership with Sportradar and the innovative iBall project, the 2018 event will also focus on marketing and brand topics.
Taking place in Cologne’s Palais Flora, the event will feature several leading experts as keynote speakers and invited panel guests. The complete line-up will be announced over the coming weeks.
Topics include brand management and community building in the digital age as well as digitalisation and technology in sport.
Tech experts to join first ever hackathon
Parallel to the business event, the very first hackathon in handball will take place – under the title of the ‘European Handball HackDays’.
Together with the official data and streaming partner of the EHF club competitions, Sportradar, as well as tracking provider, Kinexon, and digital service agency, Athletia, EHF Marketing is inviting experts and young professionals from various fields including programming, technology, business development and design to work on creative solutions for data usage and visualisation.
The winning team will present their ideas on stage at the European Handball Talks.
Handball meets in Cologne
Commenting on the new event, EHF Marketing’s Managing Director, David Szlezak, said: “Since the first event back in 2010, the VELUX EHF FINAL4 has established itself as the must-visit event for everybody involved in handball.
“The development of the ‘Handball goes Tech’ event in 2017 and now European Handball Talks’, the mega sports and entertainment event that is the VELUX EHF FINAL4 expanded still further to become the meeting place for a ‘who’s who’ of international handball and sports business.”
