Skjern hosts group phase’s final Match of the Week

The VELUX EHF Champions League Elimination Round clash between Skjern Handbold and HC Motor Zaporozhye is on a knife-edge after the first leg and has been chosen as the highlight match of Round 14.

The encounter on Sunday 4 April at 15:10 CET marks the second occasion Match of the Week takes place in Denmark this season, the first being Aalborg vs PSG, and it is the first time this spotlight is shone on a match in Groups C/D.

Zaporozhye hold a narrow lead coming into the second leg after a 32:30 victory in Ukraine last weekend, but it could have been much more after they were up by five at half-time.

Motor’s advantage is by no means secure, but they have given themselves something to work with as they strive for a third Last 16 appearance in five seasons.

Skjern’s second half resurgence has given them hope of turning the tie around and booking a spot in the Last 16 for first time in 14 years.

Whoever emerges victorious on Sunday will face the second placed side from Group B, which could be Veszprem, Flensburg or Kiel.

Chris O’Reilly will be providing live commentary from Skjern Bank Arena on Sunday, live from 15:10 CET on ehfTV.com.
