The application phase has started for the next ‘European Handball Manager’ certificate programme, a joint project by the German Sports University Cologne and the European Handball Federation.

Launched in 2015, the programme targets executives in professional handball clubs, associations and leagues in Europe.

Deadline for the next course, which starts this summer and will be held in English, is 30 April 2018. Attendance phase at the Sports University have been scheduled for October 2018, January 2019 and May 2019.

Because of the World Championship 2019, the second attendance phase will take place in Berlin instead of Cologne.

“Whoever works as a handball professional and is passionate about promoting our sport should attend this programme,” says Sinisa Ostoic, Managing Director of the SEHA-Gazprom League, a graduate of the European Handball Manager 2016/17.

“The EHM is a good opportunity for mutual exchange as all participants share insights into their daily work, problems and challenges but also to solutions. To obtain this kind of information any other way is difficult,” says Jennifer Kettemann, the managing director of Rhein-Neckar Löwen who attends the current course.

“In comparison to other certificate programmes, the European Handball Manager offers handball-specific, tailor-made content including legal, economic, psychological, media and management aspects,” says Gerd Butzeck, the managing director of Forum Club Handball.

The programme fee is € 5,000. The maximum number of participants accepted per year is 20.

Applicants must:

  • have a university degree or
