DRAW REVIEW: The reigning winners of the Men's EHF Cup will meet the Finnish champions and the opponents from Croatia and Slovenia in the group phase.
Göppingen in the group phase with Cocks, Nexe and Koper
The back-to-back defending EHF Cup champions Frisch Auf Göppingen will meet Finnish trophy holders Cocks, Croatia's RK Nexe and Slovenia's RD Koper in Group C of the 2017/18 group phase. The draw at the EHF Office in Vienna has determined all four groups of the competition, which will start with the first round on 10 and 11 February.
Markus Glaser, EHF Chief Sports Officer together with four club representatives (Pierre Luhern from Saint-Raphael, Patrik Bengtsson from Lugi HF, Gintaras Savukynas from Cocks and Gerd Hofele from Göppingen) conducted the draw.
In Group A, SKA Minsk wwere pitted against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, SC Magdeburg and the winner of the qualification round 3 match between Tatran Presov and FH Hafnarfjordur.
The 2015 winners, Füchse Berlin will face Helvetia Anaitasuna, Saint-Raphael Var Handball and Lugi HF in Group C, while Fraikin BM Granollers, who qualified for their fourth consecutive group phase, will be playing against Chambery Savoie Mont Blanc Handball and two newcomers Wacker Thun from Switzerland and Azoty Pulawy from Poland.
The group phase will be followed by the quarter-finals (21/22 and 28/29 April) and the four best teams will reach the EHF Cup Finals on 19 and 20 May 2018.
