EHF meets with European University Sports Association

Will beach handball be added to the activities of the European University Sport Association?

On Wednesday, EHF Beach Handball Commission Chairman Ole Jorstad, EHF Executive Committee member Stefan Lövgren as well Peter Fröschl and Ivana Jelic from the EHF Office met with EUSA sports manager Besim Aliti and Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik for a first cooperation meeting.

Topics were the possibility and potential of adding beach handball to the EUSA movement in general and in particular a planned EHF/EUSA Beach Handball Universities Championships in July 2019.

Currently there are 19 sports – including indoor handball – in which European Universities Championships (EUC) are organised. Beach handball could become the 20th sport.

EUCs are organised on a biannual basis in odd years as single sport events. In even years, European Universities Games are organised as multi-sport events, with the next Games set to take place in the Portuguese city of Coimbra in 2018.
