Cooperation visit to Montenegro

EHF officials were in the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica, this week (7/8 September) to meet with members of the government and representatives of the Handball Federation of Montenegro.

The visit, which coincided with a scheduled meeting of the EHF's Finance Delegation, came just a few days after it was announced that the nation is a candidate for the organisation of the Women's EHF EURO 2022 (4 to 20 November) together with FYR Macedonia and Slovenia.

The EHF President, Michael Wiederer, met with the country’s Prime Minister, Duško Marković (pictured below) and Sports Minister, Nikola Janović.

Also in attendance was the EHF Vice President, Predrag Boskovic, who is the Minister of Defence in the Montenegrin government.

The young country of Montenegro, with a population of just 680,000, already has an enviable record of success in handball. Buducnost, the nation’s top women’s team, has won the EHF Champions League title twice (2012 and 2015) and its women’s national team won silver at the London Olympic Games before going on to win the European title also in 2012.
