Court of Handball fines Macedonian Handball Federation

The Court of Handball has reached a decision following proceedings opened against the Macedonian Handball Federation.

It found that the federation had violated the EHF's exclusive right to exploit the secondary TV rights for the Men’s EHF EURO 2018 qualification match, Iceland vs. FYR Macedonia, which took place on 7 May 2017.

Secondary and tertiary TV rights belong solely to the EHF (i.e. Article 43.2 of the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations) and are being marketed by its marketing and media partner.

Consequently, the Court found that the national federation infringed the aforementioned article. The situation was remedied before the match and no damage occurred.

A fine of €2,000 has been imposed on the national federation of FYR Macedonia. An appeal may be filed with the Court of Appeal within seven days.
