11 ebt 2017 events in seven countries

A total of 11 European Beach Tour 2017 competitions were held in seven countries from June 29 to July 2.

In Greece, Apollon Kalamarias took revenge for their second-place finish at the Kinderland Kalamos Beach Handball Tournament when they claimed the Vegoritis Lake 2017 trophy ahead of Kyklopes Alexandroupolis. Kilkis ranked third in the men’s category, which was the main event as only two women’s teams participated.

The women’s sides A.O Kastorias and Filotas PAS therefore played a series of friendly matches, while girls and boys teams took part in different age category competitions.

Beach Handball Senec was held in Slovakia, with two local teams crowned champions. SPORT CLUB Senec-Cannabis Energy Drink won the women’s trophy, while Hungarian side Budaörs Papírsárkányok finished second and Slovakian team KANONIERKY placed third. The men’s title was won by non-ebt side MYTNICKI VLCI, with Langoše coming in second and KACICE V POHIBE ranking third.

Cyprus’ first ebt competition of the season was held in Larnaca, with a total of 23 teams participating in the Petrolina Beach Tournament. European University Cyprus ranked first in the men’s category ahead of University of Cyprus and Anixi BH, while the women’s event was won by MegabetPlus Ladiez. Aradippou Fighters placed second in the women’s competition, and G.A.P Vassilopoulos Ladies finished third.

The second stage of the Arena Handball Tour, Arena 1000 Bueu, saw Balonmano Playa Algeciras win their first trophy of the season, while Grupo Llopis Sevilla finished as runners-up in the women’s competition. In the men’s category, Ciudad de Malaga claimed their second gold medal after winning the Arena 1000 Malaga. Malaga defeated Palletways Verallia Azuqueca in a thrilling final decided with a shoot-out.

Also in Spain, the Suances Cup featured both male and female senior category competitions alongside a youth tournament. Brindemos X Sifo won the women’s trophy, while Los Raqueros claimed the men’s.

Croatia’s busy season of beach handball events continued with the Zagreb Open 2017, where KRP Kontesa Nera won the women’s competition and Detono Zagreb maintained their dominant record that has seen them lose only one title this season. 10 men’s sides took to the sand and there were seven teams in the women’s competition.

Both Kontesa Nera and Zagreb beat BHC Dubrava in the finals, while Hungarian side Lady Bugs ranked third in the women’s event and Chemo Profiles Zagreb placed third in the men’s.

The fourth competition on the PGNiG Summer Superliga 2017 calendar took place in Plock, with BHT Auto Forum Petra Plock adding another trophy in the men’s competition and Westsite from the Netherlands claiming the women’s title – just as both teams did at the same event one year ago.

BHT GRU Piotrkow Trybunalski finished second ahead of Salgotarjani Strandepitok in the men’s category, while BHT Aim Poznan ranked second in the women’s and BHT Bulls Kowalewo Pom placed third.

Also held over the weekend were the Garci Cup 2017 in Estarreja, And’Praia 2017 – VNGaia in Vila Nova de Gaia, Arena 500 Ciudad Real, and XIII Torneio Sir 1st Maio – BH 2017 – S Pedro De Moel in Marinha Grande.
