Preliminary round groups drawn for Women's 19 EHF EURO 2017

The currently two best women's teams in the generation 1998 and younger, Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015 champions, Denmark, and current youth world champions, Russia, got to know their opponents at the next big tournament as the preliminary round groups for the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2017 were drawn on Thursday.

The draw took place in Paris on the fringes of the 10th Secretary Generals Conference in the French capital. The final tournament will take place from 27 July to 6 August in the Slovenian city of Celje.

In Group D, Denmark face the hosts, Slovenia, Portugal and Montenegro. Russia play against Croatia, Norway and FYR Macedonia in Group B

Tournament hosts Slovenia eventually chose, as they had the right to as organisers, to be placed in Group D.

The first two teams of each group qualify for the main round which consists of two groups with four teams each. From these two groups, again the first two will qualify for the semi-finals.
