On the same day Veszprém will face French team Montpellier on home ground. Just one day later the remaining two quartel-finals will be played. THW Kiel will host Barcelona, while Pick-Szeged will play against PSG.

As HC Vardar finished first in Group B the Macedonian team skipped the Last16 and made their way directly to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile Flensburg took a tough fight in the Last 16 against Meshkov Brest with two hard-won and tight victories.

The battle between Flensburg and Vardar at the quarter-final stage freshes up some old memories from 2014, when Flensburg beat Vardar by away goals rule. The match promises to be intense again as both teams are in excellent form – which ehfTV commentator O’Reilly points out, too:

"After three years of falling short at the quarter-fnal stage, the prospect of reaching the VELUX EHF FINAL4 has never felt so real for HC Vardar.

"The Macedonian contenders face SG Flensburg-Handewitt, the side which caused so much heartbreak in 2014 on their own path to glory. Vardar may be slight favourites, but with Flensburg at home in the first leg, they have all the tools necessary to win and give themselves a chance of reaching Cologne one last time under Ljubomir Vranjes.“
