Court of Handball imposes a fine on Glassverket

The Court of Handball has published a decision following proceedings opened against the club Glassverket for having failed to play three matches of the 2016/17 Women’s EHF Cup Group Phase on a handball court composed of handball lines only.

Despite reminders sent by the EHF and the EHFM, the club did not comply with this obligation set forth in the 2016/17 EHF Cup Regulations. To reply to the club’s arguments, the Court underlined that whether a similar violation occurred at the Champions League Qualifications does not constitute any sort of implicit authorisation to repeat a similar infringement and that the obligation to play on a court composed of handball lines only applies irrespective of whether a TV production is ensured or not.

Thus, a fine of €5,000 is imposed on the club. An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days
