Registration starts for Men’s World Championship 2019 Qualification

The European Handball Federation has invited its national federations to register for the qualification leading up to the Men’s World Championship 2019 in Denmark and Germany.

Federations have until 24 April 2017 to confirm their participation. France as defending champions as well as Denmark and Germany as the two tournaments hosts are directly qualified for the final tournament.

10 European teams will eventually join them, with three teams from Africa and Pan America, four teams from Asia and one team from Oceania completing the 24-nation event. From the Men’s EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia next January up to three best ranked teams will qualify directly.

The remaining European places will be decided in two qualification rounds.

The first phase will be played over three weeks in home and away matches with the playing dates on

  • 25 to 29 October 2017
  • 3 to 7 January 2018
  • 10 to 14 January 2018

The draw of the Men’s World Championship Qualification is planned to take place in the middle of July in the EHF Office in Vienna.

The second phase's play-off matches will be played in a knockout system with first and second leg matches being played on 8 to 10 June 2018 (1st leg) and 12 to 14 June 2018 (2nd leg).

The winners of these play-offs will qualify for the Men’s World Championship 2019 in Denmark and Germany which will be played from 13 to 27 January 2019.
