Göppingen in the group with Midtjylland, Granollers and Porto

The reigning trophy holders of the Men's EHF Cup Frisch Auf Göppingen will start their title defence in this season's group phase in Group B together with Denmark's HC Midtjylland, FC Porto and the third team of the previous season Fraikin BM Granollers from Spain after the draw at the EHF Office divded all 16 teams into four groups.

Michael Wiederer, EHF President together with Gerd Hofele from Göppingen carried out the draw.

The IHF Super Globe winners from the last summer and the 2015 EHF Cup winners Füchse Berlin will play in Group A alongside Saint-Raphael Var Handball from France, Slovenia's RD Riko Ribnica and Denmark's GOG. In Group C KIF Kolding Kobenhavn will meet Grundfos Tatabanya, Israel's Maccabi CASTRO Tel Aviv and the 2002 Champions League winners SC Magdeburg, while Group D consists of the fourth German team MT Melsungen, Spain's Helvetia Anaitasuna, Portugal's SL Benfica and Cocks from Finland.

The first round of the group phase is scheduled for 11-12 February and the last round will take place on 1-2 April.
