Babichev and Kontrec cleared to play

The Court of Handball has ruled upon two disciplinary cases opened following the direct disqualifications of Maxim Babichev and Tin Kontrec at the 30th minute of Round 4 of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2016/17 match: HC PPD Zagreb (CRO) vs. HC Meshkov Brest (BLR) which took place on 15 November 2016.

Both players received a direct disqualification for having pushed each other at the end of the first half. The court found that, in light of the circumstances of the given situation, the sole disqualification imposed is adequate and sufficient. Hence, it is decided that no sanction beyond the direct disqualification shall be imposed on the players, which means they are both entitled to play the upcoming match of their respective teams.

Babichev travels with Brest to Szeged on Sunday, while Kontrec and his Zagreb receive HC Vardar in the Match of the Week a day before.
