Court of Handball bans Triantafyllidis for one match

The EHF Court of Handball has ruled upon a disciplinary case open following the direct disqualification of the player Anastasios Triantafyllidis of A.C.C. Filippos Verias during the 2016/17 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 1 (2nd leg) match: HC Budvanska Rivijera (MNE) vs. A.C.C Filippos Verias (GRE).

The player was directly disqualified for pushing an opponent with both hands when the later was running into a counterattack and was not in possession of the ball.

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that the foul was reckless and intentionally committed against an opponent. Additionally, the gesture was in no way related to the normal course of the match and directed at the opponent’s body.

Hence, the player is not entitled to take part in the next EHF club competition match in which his club will participate, i.e. Men’s EHF Cup match Qualification Round 2 (1st leg): Górnik Zabrze vs. A.C.C. Filippos Verias.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days but shall not have any suspensive effect.
