All set for the European Week of Sport

Saturday 10 September will see the start of the 2016 European Week of Sport (EWOS) and with it is the launch of over 15,000 events aimed at promoting sport and physical activity across Europe. The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level.

As part of the 'European Open Day of Handball' within the EWOS, a number of national handball federations plan to use various handball activities to engage with the public and play a part in this special week.

"We want to invite all member federations and their clubs to be involved this year to further promote the idea of #BeActive by contributing and giving a signal to the public how attractive handball-related activities can be for all," says project coordinator Helmut Höritsch.

"With your help the European handball community can show its strength to the public by voluntary activities at a national, regional and local level, initiated by national federations, clubs and local handball communities."

Visit the European Week of Sport website to discover which events are happening nearby and when and keep an eye on the European Handball Federation Facebook page for information on handball-specific events.

There is also an opportunity to win special sport-related prizes by being active during the event. Participants should visit the #BeActive photo competition to find out how to take part.
