Host broadcasters meet ahead of season
TV stations charged with producing TV pictures from Europe’s premier club handball competition, the VELUX EHF Champions League, were in Vienna on Monday, 29 August 2016 as part of the final preparations for the new season.
EHF Marketing hosted a workshop in the Austrian capital to present plans for the new season and give TV stations the opportunity to provide both feedback and new ideas relating to the coverage of the competition.
As well as TV stations from countries including Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary and Spain, the workshop was attended by representatives from MP & Silva, EHF Marketing’s exclusive worldwide media advisor, and media officers from some of the clubs participating in the competition.
On the agenda were a review of the past season, improvements in the cooperation between clubs and TV partners and the challenges and opportunities in the new digital era.
David Szlezak, Managing Director of EHF Marketing, and Markus Glaser, EHF Senior Competition Manager, also discussed the revised playing system introduced last season and the challenges facing the competition in the future.
Following the completion of the event, David Szlezak, said: “It was really important for EHF Marketing to have brought all our TV partners together and we are very pleased with the outcome of the sessions. We had a very positive dialogue with broadcasters, which will be used to further improve the positive cooperation we already enjoy throughout the coming season."
The VELUX EHF Champions League throws off on the weekend 3/4 September 2016, with qualification tournaments in Presov, Slovakia and Bregenz, Austria to decide the final two places in Groups C and D.
