European youth powerhouses reach quarter-finals

Denmark, Russia and Hungary have confirmed their position as strongest teams in European women's youth handball at the World Championship in Slovakia.

The three teams that reached the podium in the abovementioned order at the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015 have all reached the World Championship Quarter-finals which will be played on Thursday night.

Together with this trio another four European squads, Croatia, Norway, France and Sweden, are among the last eight teams, with Korea being the only non-European team left in the competition.

Denmark had one the toughest Last 16 matches on Wednesday. They beat Romania 30: 29 only after extra time to set up a quarter-final clash with Croatia who beat Brazil 24:21.

Russia beat Spain 33:27 and will meet France (46:25 against Egypt) in the quarter-final. Hungary beat Angola 32:23 to face Norway (30:19 against tournament hosts Slovakia) on Thursday.

The fourth quarter-final takes place between Sweden (22:20 against Germany) and Korea (33:30 against Slovenia).

Other Younger Age Category events this summer include the Men's 20 EHF EURO in Denmark from 28 July to 7 August, the Men's 18 EHF EURO from 11 to 21 August and the Men's 18 EHF Championships from 15 to 21 August in Georgia, Bulgaria and Lithuania.
