Water sports and ‘Vujin-robics’ as pre-season draws near
By now, readers might be used to the skilful eye of the Last Week in the Champions League series catching EHF Champions League stars all over Europe like Pokémon.
No summer activity slips by the radar as the latest and the freshest news is packaged in a single article, but speaking of fresh, find out which sport has delighted Luka Zvizej during the past week.
Slovenians enjoy their vacation
Celje star Zvizej is certainly making the most of his well-earned vacation, ahead of the Olympic Games in August, and the pre-season just about to begin. However, a little bit of water sports have never done any harm, right?
Hopefully his Slovenia and Celje coaches Veselin Vujovic and Branko Tamse do not mind.
Another Slovenian and new Veszprem signing Dragan Gajic has had the fans in Veszprem Arena drooling at the prospect of seeing his talents next season. He has already announced his shirt number and sang high praises for his new club.
Last week it was time for Gajo to gain his first impressions of Veszprem, and the right wing was visibly delighted standing in front of the club’s rich trophy cabinet. However, the very trophy cabinet is lacking the most important piece – one many would expect Gajic and his teammates to finally bring to Veszprem next season.
Gajic was also spotted playing a casual game of tennis with his brother in his new surroundings.
Les Experts are back!
The French gladiators had plenty of time to lick their wounds after the disappointing EHF EURO 2016, however, if the tradition is anything to go by, this year Olympic success beckons for the Karabatic brothers and co.
This illustrious team is back in training, ahead of the Olympic Games, slowly building up their fitness levels for the showdown in Rio, which is surely going to be a memorable one.
At this stage, it is still early to judge the state of preparedness, however, taking a look at what the French wing has done in training, earning himself the nickname Michael Guigou Jordan in the process, is a nice preview.
One wonders if Guigou could also help his basketball-playing compatriots, who have just recently secured their tickets to Rio.
Trip down memory lane
Marko Vujin is doing his bit to keep fit over the summer with some unusual moves. The Serbian right back began his preparation with a somewhat different set of exercises.
It is still unclear whether his unusual aerobic routine is just for fun, or a permanent addition to his training schedule. He calls it a “holiday workout”, we call it “Vujin-robics”
Saving the best for last. Check out this Serbian get-together at the airport. Friends, former teammates and roommates took a trip down memory lane as they flew to Kiel together to say #ServusMini at Dominik Klein's testemonial match on Saturday.
