St. Rapahel official fined

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision following a disciplinary procedure against Dan Rares Fortuneanu, official B of the club Saint-Raphael Var Handball.

Dan Rares Fortuneanu lost his temper at the end of the second leg match of the 2015/16 Men’s EHF Cup Quarter Finals: Chambéry
Savoie Handball (FRA) vs. Saint Raphael Var Handball (FRA) which took place on 30 April 2016.

After the end of the Match, the Official went to the EHF referees to express his discontent regarding their performance. This discontent was displayed throughout an aggressive verbal and non‐verbal attitude such as shouting on and threatening the referees.

He had to be held by people from his team and escorted out of the playing court.

The Court considers such behaviour as improper, menacing and intimidating, thereby violating the principles of fair play and sportsmanlike.

Consequently, a fine of 750 € is imposed on Dan Rares Fortuneanu.

An appeal may be filed within seven days with the EHF Court of Appeal.
