Third edition of MESGO completed

Europe’s top sports managers have now completed the latest edition of the MESGO programme – the Executive Master in European Sport Governance - a high-end international study programme designed for experienced managers and executives working in international, European and national federations.

The graduation ceremony held at the headquarters of UEFA in Nyon, Switzerland was attended by the EHF President, Jean Brihault.

The MESGO programme provides its participants with the tools and knowledge to rise to the numerous challenges facing sport in Europe such as the commercial development of the most popular competitions, the establishment and on-going development of European political and economic institutions.

MESGO is supported by the European Handball Federation, and the programme's second and third editions saw participants from the European handball family.

Soren Simonsen, the Head of Development of the Danish Handball Association, took part in MESGO II and Anrijs Brencans, the Secretary General of the Latvian Handball Federation has just completed his studies with his thesis focusing on the expansion of the Men’s EHF EURO to 24 teams and the related challenges for medium sized federations.

Commenting on his experience, Brencans said: “MESGO has enabled me to build an extensive sports-related network that I would have never been able to obtain on my own. Many top level sports managers and sports management professors from around the world shared a lot of key information with us.

“I learned a great deal about sports marketing in USA, the organisation of big events in Brasil and sports law in Europe.”

The fourth edition of MESGO starts in September 2016 with the successful applicants for the next edition of the course to be announced in June 2016.
