Urs Maibach, head of the Swiss referee organisation and EHF delegate, has died in an accident at the age of 53.
EHF delegate Urs Maibach dies in tragic accident
The EHF has the sad duty to report the death of the EHF delegate, Urs Maibach, in an accident involving a paraglider. He was 53.
The head of the Swiss referee organisation (SRO) had been an EHF delegate since 2014.
His last match as an EHF delegate was in March 2016 when he officiated in a match between Slovenia and Israel at the Women’s U20 World Championship qualification tournament in France.
His funeral will take place on Thursday, 12 May at 11:00 hrs in Spiez, Switzerland.
The EHF joins the European handball family is sending its thoughts and deepest condolences to Urs Maibach’s family and friends at this difficult time.
