Eurovision winner to take the stage at VELUX EHF FINAL4

This year’s entertainment programme at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 will reach a new dimension after EHF Marketing GmbH has revealed that Måns Zelmerlöw will take the stage at the world’s most prestigious event in club handball on the last weekend of May.

The Swedish pop star and the reigning Eurovision song contest winner has chosen the LANXESS arena in Cologne to become the venue of his premiere performance on German soil.

“Year after year we are putting a lot of effort in maintaining and improving the reputation of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 as an event of not just a sporting excellence but also a great social happening. We are proud to announce that the current Eurovision song contest winner will join us in Cologne and there is no doubt to the joy of 19,750 fans in the largest arena in Germany,” David Szlezak, EHF Marketing managing director commented.

Zelmerlöw, who won last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with his entry “Heroes” with the third highest score in history of the longest-running annual TV song competition, will perform on the final the of the season’s climax in Cologne.

The 29-year-old Swede will sing two songs from his new album “Perfectly damaged”– one in the opening show before the VELUX EHF Champions League final match and the other just before the awarding ceremony of the new champions. So Måns Zelmerlöw will be part of the great entertainment concept and he will be part of the most important Opening Show before the final match, where the “Heroes” of the VELUX EHF Champions League season 2015/16 will be crowned.

“I am already looking forward to performing in Cologne and of course I am looking forward to saying #HelloCologne to handball fans from all over Europe,” says Zelmerlöw in a video, who is happy to perform his songs on stage with the handball world watching.

He is the second Swedish performer in the VELUX EHF FINAL4 history after his compatriots from the legendary rock band EUROPE took part in Cologne in 2012.

In Sweden Zelmerlöw is also active as a TV presenter, actor and model. He will co-host the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm together with Petra Mede. He is a big fan of sports and was born in Lund, one of the traditional handball towns in Sweden.

With the huge demand for tickets, the only remaining ways for fans to secure a seat at LANXESS arena is through the official ticket partners and the final allocation of tickets for the four participating clubs. More information can be found at www.ehfFINAL4.com.

The VELUX EHF Champions League Last 16 phase is currently underway and all eight quarter-finalists, who will vie for the four places in Cologne, will be confirmed by Sunday 27 March. So far FC Barcelona Lassa, Paris Saint-Germain Handball and THW Kiel have reached the last knockout round before the final event.
