ROUND PREVIEW: The last two quarter-finals in the Women’s Challenge Cup will be decided this weekend, and the teams involved know already which team they will be up against should they proceed
Last quarter-finalists know their potential opponents
After Rocasa Gran Canaria ACE and Kastamonu B. Genclik SK qualified for the semi-finals by winning their double headers last weekend, only two quarter-finals remain in the Women’s Challenge Cup, and the four teams involved know which teams they will be up against in the semi-final if they succeed.
The semi-finals were drawn along with the quarter-finals, and the winners of this weekend’s return matches will be facing the winners of the double headers from last weekend.
Macedonian HC Vardar junior are taking a relatively modest three-goal lead with them to the Ukraine after defeating HC Karpaty 22:19 at home in the first leg.
When the two teams meet again in the Karpaty Arena in Uzhgorod, they will be fighting for the right to meet Turkish Kastamonu in the semi-final in April.
The winner of the tie between EKS Start Elblag and Izmir BSB SK will be up against Rocasa Gran Canaria, and after the first leg, Elblag have their noses slightly ahead of their Turkish opponents.
Elblag won the first leg at home in Poland 29:25, but of course, four goals is not a lot, so the Turkish side still definitely have a chance when the teams meet in Izmir Saturday afternoon.
