Izmir's Yilmaz out for one match
The EHF Court of Handball has published a decision within the frame of the disciplinary proceedings opened following the last minute red card received by Çagla Yilmaz at 59:57 minutes of the second leg match of the 2015/16 Women’s Challenge Cup Last 16: Izmir BSB SK (TUR) vs DHC Sokol Poruba (CZE) which took place on 16 January 2016.
Çagla Yilmaz was directly disqualified for having prevented the execution of a throw-off in favour of the opposing team in the last seconds of the match.
The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that the player’s behaviour was intentional, aggressive and committed solely with the intention to prevent any further action to be initiated in order to maintain the score as it was to ensure the qualification of her club.
The player is therefore suspended from participating in EHF European Cup competitions for one match. She is thus not entitled to participate in the 2015/16 Women’s Challenge Cup Quarter-final (1st leg): EKS Start Elblag (POL) vs. Izmir BSB SK (TUR) taking place on 20 February 2016.
An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days and shall not have any suspensive effect.
