Call for applicants for fourth edition of MESGO

The Executive Master in European Sport Governance (MESGO), a high-end international study programme designed for experienced managers and executives working, among others, in international, European and national federations is now calling for applicants for its fourth edition.

The programme provides its participants with the tools and knowledge to rise to the numerous challenges facing sport in Europe such as the commercial development of the most popular competitions, the establishment and on-going development of European political and economic institutions and societal problems to which sport is not immune.

The MESGO is supported by the European Handball Federation, and the programme's second and third edition saw a member of the European handball family participating.

Soren Simonsen, the Head of Development of the Danish Handball Association, and Anrijs Brencans, the Secretary General of the Latvian Handball Federation, have taken part in the 19-month course.

"All successful editions of MESGO have created a benchmark in international sport management education. The programme targets professional club, association and league managers with the offer of tailored theoretical and practical content. Legal, economic, psychological, media and managerial aspects relevant for these managers’ individual and intellectual development prepare them for a top career in international sport management.

“Meeting the needs of the modern sports market can only be achieved by well-educated sport managers with recognised and up-to-date competences,” says EHF President Jean Brihault.

The MESGO is divided into nine sessions being held at partner universities and at the headquarters of sports organisations around the world.

Each of the week-long sessions touches on one main topic such as the governance of sports organisations, legal frameworks, strategic marketing and ethics.

The fourth edition of the MESGO starts in September 2016. Applications are being accepted until 28 March 2016. For more information visit www.mesgo.org and check the brochure.
