Ranking List for 2015 puts les Bleus in top spot ahead of Denmark and Sweden
France lead the way in Europe
A clean sweep of world championship titles in 2015 by France's men’s national teams has put les Bleus at the top of the European Handball Federation’s national team Ranking List for last year.
World titles at U19, U21 and senior level in the past year mean that France lead not only the men’s national team rankings for 2015 but also the overall ranking list.
The overall rankings take into account points not only from men’s and women’s senior championships played in the past year but also the major younger age category events.
France may not have managed to defend their Men's EHF EURO title last month in Poland but, with a total of 520 points, they have overtaken Denmark, last year's top nation.
In the men’s national team rankings, France were followed by Spain and Denmark, the two nations equal on points but separated thanks to Spain's better finish in the World Championship in Qatar.
Russia ranked in first position in the women’s table, Denmark beaten into second place as a result of their defeat to Russia in the fifth place match at the World Championship in December.
