Duvnjak suspended for Veszprem clash

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision as regards disciplinary proceedings opened due to the direct disqualification by Domagoj Duvnjak during the last minute (59:57) of the VELUX EHF Champions League match between RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko (SLO) and THW Kiel (GER)on 28 November.

The player was directly disqualified for grabbing and pulling the sleeve of his opponent’s right arm while the latter had passed him and was heading towards goal.

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that the foul was intentional, aggressive and committed solely with the intention to annihilate any chance to score in favour of the opposing team in a crucial and decisive moment of the match.

Hence, Domagoj Duvnjak is suspended for one match and is consequently not entitled to play the VELUX EHF Champions League Group Phase match: THW Kiel (GER) vs. MVM Veszprém (HUN) taking place on 6 December 2015.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within 7 days but shall not have any suspensive effect according to the aforementioned decision.
