Registration and bidding has started for women's younger age category events

The European Handball Federation seeks its member federations to register and bid for the upcoming women's younger age category events in 2017, namely the Women's 17 EHF EURO and Championship as well as the Women's 19 EHF EURO.

Following a decision by the EHF Congress in 2014, the qualification system in the younger age category events will be abandoned and replaced by a system that sees all nations in a two-tier system, playing at either the EHF EURO (first tier) or the EHF Championship (second tier) with a relegation system in place between the two divisions.

This system will come into effect at the women's under-17 events in 2017, while the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2017 will still be played with  qualification and final tournament.

The deadline for registering and or hosting these events in two years' time are the following

  • 11 December 2015: Registration to participate in the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2017/Women's 17 EHF Championship 2017
  • 22 January 2016: Deadline to bid for hosting the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2017, a Women's 17 EHF Championship 2017, the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2017

The registration to participate in the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2017 will start at a later date.

The playing dates for the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2017 are 10 to 20 August 2017; the EHF Championships take place from 14 to 20 August 2017.

The ranking that determines whether a nation takes place at the EURO or the Championship is available for download.
