Vardar junior oust the Angels

HC Vardar junior had no problems reaching the Last 16 of the Women’s Challenge Cup over the weekend.

The Macedonian team hosted London Angels HC for a double-header in the Sport Center Jane Sandanski, and over the two matches, the home side managed to score exactly twice as many goals as their visitors, as the aggregate result was 62:31 in the favour of Vardar.

Vardar won the first leg 27:14 and the second a more comfortable 35:17.

Things were much tighter in Arandjelovac, Serbia, where WHC Knjaz Milos Arandjelovac received IBV Vestmannaeyjar from Iceland.

Arandjelovac won the first match narrowly, 30:28, and the second leg 31:28.

This was obviously enough to secure the Serbian side their Last 16 berth, and to their German left back Milica Danilovic, the weekend became particularly nice.

The 30-year-old back court player scored no less than 22 goals over the two matches, nine Saturday and 13 on Sunday.

KHF Shqipona also look on their way the next round. The team from Kosovo can hardly fail after winning 38:22 away against Macedonian ZRK Pelister 2012.

1,500 spectators saw a Macedonian player, centre back Belma Beba, become most scoring player for the visitors and in the match with 12 goals.

Ten goals from Katia Soglietti will probably not be enough to send ASD Ariosto Pallamano Ferrara on to the next round.

The Italian team lost 34:21 in Switzerland to Yellow Winterthur and are in for an extremely tough challenge on home court this coming Saturday.

The home team only lead 14:11 at half-time, but managed to win the second period by ten goals.
