Experience and depth bring CSM the win

CSM Bucuresti are back to winning ways with a 30:27 victory against MKS Selgros Lublin

With four defeats from four matches MKS Selgros Lublin are eliminated from this year's EHF Champions League.

GROUP D
MKS Selgros Lublin (POL) vs CSM Bucuresti (ROU) 27:30 (13:15)

The Romanian champions came to Poland after an exhausting 3,000 kilometers trip last week where they drew 23:23 against Buducnost and had a win in the local league against Universitatea Alexandrion Cluj.

However, the Romanian powerhouse had a huge advantage over their counterparts in Kim Rasmussen, the Polish national team coach.

Rasmussen though could not believe his eyes after 15 minutes as Lublin took a surprising 8:5 lead powered by Joanna Szarawaga, Bucuresti had no answer to the Polish line player.

More experienced and with their lesson learnt after a Rasmussen timeout, CSM started to mount their comeback.

With Fisker, Gullden and Jörgensen making an impact Bucuresti soon took the lead and had a two-goal advantage at the break, 15:13.

A brave Lublin continued to fight for their first point. After exchanging goals with Bucuresti, the Polish champions piled up the pressure to level the score in the 48th minute, 24:24.

It was not be for the host though as CSM turned up the heat when it mattered.

The hosts scored only two goals between the 48th and the 58th minute, while Bucuresti's experience and depth made the difference, as CSM won 30:27.

Playmaker Isabelle Gullden had her best game for Bucuresti, scoring eight goals. For Lublin the veteran Iwona Niedzwiedz was the top scorer with seven goals.

Lublin remains last in the group with zero points after five matches while Bucuresti is level on top until Sunday when Buducnost plays against Sävehof.
