GROUP B REVIEW: Hungarian champions see off German visitors to edge closer to winning Group B

Ferencváros showed no mercy and once again beat Thüringer whose comeback in the last ten minutes was only enough to avoid a double digit defeat.

GROUP B
FTC-Rail Cargo Hungária (HUN) vs Thüringer HC (GER) 32:28 (19:12)

Ferencváros returned to Budapest for the return leg of their duel with Thüringer and the 2,500 strong crowd were delighted to see skipper Zita Szucsánszki in the squad as the centre back suffered an injury in Germany.

After the first exchange of goals the Hungarian champion stepped on the gas and left the German team standing thanks to goals from Szandra Zácsik and Nerea Pena.

The margin started to grow as Melinda Szikora was once again excellent and Thüringer needed the heroics of Svenja Huber and Katrin Engel to stay in the game.

Thüringer crawled closer by goals from Sonja Frey and Iveta Luzumova but the home side never let the German team get close enough to make the home support nervous.

Some nice saves from Dinah Eckerle proved to be enough for Thüringer to avoid a devastating defeat but Ferencváros had closed the game long before the visitors could have hope for anything less than a defeat.

Svenja Huber admitted the best team won: "Their back players were great. They came every time with so much power. We couldn’t stop Pena. They were better than we and we have to congratulate to them and wish them good luck for the next round."

For Szekerczés Luca preparation was key: "We prepared very well for this match, because we knew that it will not be easy. We made exactly what we planned, we played in the good way. We knew what are their weaknesses and we used our strengths in a clever way. For example when they took down their goalkeeper, we scored fast goals."
