Paris Saint Germain Handball have announced yesterday an addition to their super-star squad.
Gensheimer set to join star-abundant PSG
A few weeks after assistant coach and former THW Kiel stalwart Staffan Olsson joined the PSG coaching staff, German left winger Uwe Gensheimer has signed for the next three seasons and will play in Paris from next summer onwards, alongside Thierry Omeyer, Mikkel Hansen and the Karabatic brothers.
The 29-year-old made clear in the past few weeks that he wouldn't renew his contract with Rhein-Neckar Löwen, where he has spent his whole career thus far.
He then decided to join PSG, replacing Samuel Honrubia who will leave the club next June.
After winning the EHF Cup in 2013 with 'Die Löwen' he will do his best to add some more trophies to his record.
"After thirteen years in Mannheim, I wanted to take part in another project, and the one that PSG puts on the table is level with my ambitions," he declared to the club's website.
It shouldn't be too hard for him to fit in since coach Noka Serdarusic and about half of the team speak German, and they have all met each other on Champions League and Bundesliga courts.
Gensheimer, who was voted best left winger at the 2015 IHF World Championship in Qatar, will be with PSG until June 2019, and he could be just the first of many other stars to join the Parisian squad next summer.
