LANXESS arena with a place among the world’s best

The VELUX EHF FINAL4 could hardly find a better home than the LANXESS arena in Cologne, Germany, the perennial venue of the Europe’s biggest pinnacle of club handball has proved once again its position among the most visited arenas of the planet.

The brand magazine Pollstar has released the “2015 Midyear Worldwide Ticket Sales Top 100 Arena Venues” and the Cologne city’s landmark ranked first in Germany and fourth in the world.

For the sixth time in a row 40,000 fans descended on the LANXESS arena on 30 and 31 May 2015. In total, not less than 714,101 spectators flocked to the LANXESS arena in the first half of 2015 to visit one of 75 spectacular events.

Just one month before the 2015 VELUX EHF FINAL4 the EHF, EHF Marketing GmbH, the City of Cologne and the LANXESS arena put pen to paper and signed a contract that will see the the event remain in Cologne until 2020, a four-year extension on the existing agreement that expires in 2016.

The demand for the tickets for the seventh edition is overwhelming. Already at the first pre-sale phase during the last VELUX EHF FINAL4 weekend 8,000 tickets were purchased and another 2,000 were sold within three minutes on 26 June.

The LANXESS arena can only improve its ranking in the second half of 2015 as it is going to host several superstars of music including Madonna, U2, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, David Guetta, Take that, Andreas Gabalier, Simply Red and Eros Ramazzotti.
