European Wheelchair champions sought

Since its premiere in 2008, when Austria lifted the trophy at the first European Wheelchair Championship, the interest in wheelchair handball has been growing constantly.

From 12 to 13 December 2015 the EHF will now stage the European Wheelchair Handball Nations’ Tournament for the second time.

Players from all over Europe will come to St. Pölten in Lower Austria to demonstrate their sport and compete on an international level.

All EHF Member Federations are allowed to participate, however the tournament is limited to a maximum four teams. Spots will be assigned following  the 'first come, first served' principle. Registration ends on 31 July 2015.

There is no classification system regarding functional mobility required, but the mixed teams need to have at least three women in their squad with always one female on court.

If available, the games shall e played in sport wheelchairs, but either way the equipment needs to be and must not a risk for the player, his teammates and opponents.

The team delegations will be accomodated in three- and two-bed rooms. Accomodation will be paid by the EHF.

Before the participating teams enter the court on Saturday and Sunday, they will be welcomed at the venue with a dinner at “Kulinarium Kuefstein” on Friday, 11 December which grants them the time to share handball know-how and spread the idea of wheelchair handball.

Further information and the registration form can be found here.
