Serdarusic replaces Gardent as PSG coach

Just hours after celebrating the French league title on Thursday night, Paris Saint-Germain Handball have decided to replace Philippe Gardent with Zvonimir Serdarusic, who is the first of many hig-profile names expected to join the club this summer. Philippe Gardent now goes to Toulouse, after winning five domestic trophies with PSG and reaching two VELUX EHF Champions League Quarter-finals.

The 64-year-old born in Bosnia Herzegovina is most famous for coaching THW Kiel for fifteen years between 1993 and 2008. With the German team, he won one EHF Champions League in 2007 and reached the final of the competition twice more in 2000 and 2008.

After his long jaunt with THW, he had brief spells at the Slovenian national team and Celje before taking a step back from the sport. After four years away he was back in business with Aix in the French league, first in an advisory capacity before taking charge of the team.

With a year and a half in France under his belt, Serdarusic is considered a suitable leader for the club with major ambitions both domestically and in Europe's elite club competition and has signed a two-year contract.
