NEWS REPORT: A cover version of 'In the air tonight' sung by Kim Sanders preluded the final at the 2015 VELUX EHF FINAL4
Sanders: Both sport and music bring us together
Kim Sanders has been performing ahead of the gold medal match at the 2015 VELUX EHF FINAL4. The charming singer explains why she chose to cover an 80s hit-song from Phil Collins and what exactly she finds so entertaining about handball.
The single has been released as the song of the VELUX EHF Champions League Final and will be part of her third album coming out this summer.
The song can be listened to here.
ehfFINAL4.com: Why did you choose to perform the song, “In the Air Tonight” from Phil Collins?
Kim Sanders: My next record is entitled “Kimistry” and it is going to include covers of my favourite songs from the 80s. When the VELUX EHF FINAL4 asked me to perform at the event, I thought to myself, ‘what would be a great anthem song?’ ‘In the Air tonight’ is the right choice. It is a perfect song that captures every meaning, every thought from all different directions.
ehfFINAL4.com: How would you describe the feeling and atmosphere performing in front of 19,750 fans at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 Event?
Kim Sanders: It is very different if you compare it to a normal concert. It is just a positive, over-whelming feeling. There are so many people in one place that are gathered together to celebrate something they love. Even if it is a sporting competition, it is the same as it is with music; these things bring us together. So to stand out there and everybody is cheering, I just love it here.
ehfFINAL4.com: Are you a handball fan yourself?
Kim Sanders: I have lived in Germany for a very long time, but I have to say, I am still learning about the game. It is the combination of basketball meets soccer meets American football that fascinates me. I find it very exciting to watch because there is always action taking place on the court.
