Trio of presenters make their way back to Cologne

Three well-known faces have been confirmed as presenters for the biggest handball spectacle of the year as Anett Sattler, Markus Floth and Edit Szalay will be part of the show at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne (30/31 May).

All of them are no newcomers to the season’s highlight event in the LANXESS arena and once again will guide the crowd of 20.000 through the four matches and the many side events, including the opening party at the arena on Friday 29 May.

But their joint premiere this season takes place already this Tuesday (20:20 hrs) in Vienna at the semi-final match of the Austrian HLA league Westwien vs Bregenz as the trio will join the #SCOREMORE challenge.

Edit Szalay, who was in the presenters’ team also at the MVM EHF FINAL4 in Budapest last weekend, will return to Cologne after having her premiere last year.

"When I found out I am also part of the presenters’ team this year I was literally jumping around in the room. The VELUX EHF FINAL4 is on personal level the biggest experience, on professional level the biggest challenge I can imagine. Meeting the players, watching the games, experiencing the shows and just feeling the massive energy of the LANXESS arena makes it really priceless," Edit said.

Sattler is a renowned TV presenter in Germany. She has strong ties with handball not only as a journalist, but also as a former player. She started with handball at the age of four and had been playing for 22 years. In addition she was involved in the sport for several years as a youth coach and a referee.

"Being part of the entertainment team for the third time is a big honour for me. I got electrified from the first moment," Anett said.

"It’s just outstanding! No other handball event can be compared to it. I am really looking forward to four great teams coming from four different countries, working in a great team and meeting the fans on Friday at the Opening Party."

Markus Floth will have a special role at the opening shows before the matches. Raised in London, he completed his education as a presenter with the BBC. In Austria he made a name for himself presenting shows with various private radio broadcasters and presented his own shows on television with VIVA and MTV.

"I've worked at European Games, World Championships and Olympic Games but travelling to Cologne always feels like coming home! Being part of this event for so many years makes me proud and very happy!" Floth said.

He makes his fifth trip to Cologne and has been a part of big handball tournaments since 2010, when he joined the EHF EURO in Austria. In the world of premium sport products Floth was also involved in the German Soccer Bundesliga, tennis ATP Tour tournaments or at the Olympic Games in London.

"Maybe because my main job is working as a presenter for Music Television I enjoy the atmosphere in the LANXESS Arena so very much – this weekend always feels like one big music festival to me! Seeing the best teams of the world in action at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 always gets me enthusiastic and leaves me with just one sentence: This is Rock and Roll!!!"
